The Best Comedy on TV

There's a new show ABC called "Modern Family" and it is seriously one of the funniest shows to hit the air in a long, long time. "Glee" is a great show, but if I had to choose I'd pick Modern Family hands down! So tune in at 9PM on Wednesday nights and give it a chance! You won't be disappointed :)

If you missed the first episode you can check it out courtesy of Hulu.

If you're a Glee fan (like I am), you can watch Modern Family live (it's only a 1/2 hr show) and then go back and watch Glee on your DVR and fast forward through the commercials. It works out for the best all around :)

Boris Goes to Hell

I am constantly on the look out for new projects that allow me to flex my creativity a bit. I write. I take pictures. I draw. I have however, never been much of a painter. Recently though I was introduced to the wonderful world of vinyl toys by artist Nathan Hamill. He and fellow artist Denis Vasquez inspired me to try my hand at customizing and I decided to make my first attempt on one of Nathan's adorable "Boris" vinyls. Here's the photo record of that journey.

Boris, prior to being subjected to my artistic whims :)

He then got some black stripes:

The process was a lot of fun and I look forward to customizing some more figures. Next up I'm thinking that Demon Boris needs an Angel Boris to go with him :)

New Website

I hope to be doing some more photography projects down the road, so in preparation for that I set up a new website. So far I have only put up my equestrian photos, but I'll add more (hockey, soccer, etc) when I get a chance.

Lemme know what you think!

Ready to be home

So I'm back in Atlanta for a week. While I've missed friends and family, I don't miss this city. It's hot and humid and I just don't identify with most of the people who populate this town... not that I ever really did. I lived in this city for 25+ years and I always felt out of sync. LA is my home. It always has been. More so now than ever. I miss Jason. I miss my dog. I miss the rest of my crazy assortment of friends, Stacey, Wendy, Rileah, the various Nates... some are new friends, some I've known awhile, but I miss them all anyway... now if I could just talk Lindy, Garett, & Michele into moving out that way, I'd be set :)

Still, it was good to see the Fam again and Dragon*Con was a blast. It's always fun to hang out with Felicia and some of the costumes that I saw this weekend were even better than the ones I saw at Comic-Con. It was nice to see Denise Vasquez as well. She's a hell of an artist and I hope to get to spend some time with her once we're both back in LA too.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend. Here's my fave pic I got of Felicia on Friday.

There and back again...

Ok, so I haven't posted anything here in awhile... a long while. Interesting that my last post was about the crazy wildfires last fall and now this latest one is in the midst of SoCal's latest inferno. (check out my friend Denise Vasquez's awesome pictures!) Fire fascinates me (I think I was a pyromaniac in a previous life) so I guess this is apropos... (In a semi-related topic, check out Nathan Hamill's latest work, "Lavabear" at www.nathanhamill.com)

Most of you know what I've been up to lately, but for those of you who don't, here's the quick and low down... I've been writing. Writing, writing, and more writing. Mostly with Jason, but also some with Stacey as well. The three of us recently completed a pilot script for a TV show. It is being read by the PTB (That's "Powers That Be" for you non-Whedonites out there) over at Fox... and its progress at the studio has been promising. The right people are reading it and more importantly, loving it! I can't say too much about it yet, but I'm even excited about the possibilities and in these types of situations I'm usually a cautious optimist at best. I promise to keep everyone posted as events progress so keep your fingers, toes, and various other appendages crossed (no, not THAT appendage you perverts... although if one of you has a way of crossing THAT, we need to talk ;) HeHe),

As far as the other scripts go, they are moving forward as well, albeit at a much slower pace. More on that as details become available as well, but suffice it to say, some recognizable names are reading them and that's never a bad thing. Meanwhile (back at the Batcave) I've got 2 pseudo-horror scripts I'm working on. One is a Tim Burtonesque fantasy-horror kinda thing and the other is a comedy-action-horror (think Shaun of the Dead meets Halo). The treatment on one is done and I'm hard at work on the other. I hope to have 1st drafts of both done before Halloween. (I'm going as a Zombie school girl for those of you who care.)

This week I'm in Atlanta though. I'm going to Dragon*Con to see my fantabulous friend, Felicia Day and I'm catching up with other friends (old and new) as well as family members. I haven't been back here in a couple o years and it's kind of odd to be back... that and the chip in my brain that contained my maps of Atlanta must have short circuited, 'cause I got lost driving from my mom's house to Perimeter Mall yesterday (and that's only like a mile away). Hey, I never claimed NOT to be directionally challenged. HeHeHe.

So that's the skinny, scoop, latest breaking news. Love you all. Talk soon!
