I'm not one for resolutions. Despite being as OCD as I am I have discovered that as soon as I make plans something comes along to change them. So to close out 2009 here are some pictures of the puppies. Vala is the bigger German Shepherd looking one. Leia is the littler one that is probably part German Shepherd and part Border Collie... although we do suspect there might be some Ewok mixed in there as well :)

DesignerCon
I wandered over to Pasadena this afternoon to check out this year's DesignerCon. It was good to see Nathan, Denise, Randy, and Leslie again and there were many cool toys to be seen. There we're also a lot of great artists signing and sketching.
These are Beastlies. They're sculpted by my friend Leslie Levings and they're too cute!
There were several artists working on a group painting. Among them was one of my favorite designers, Joe Ledbetter.
The main reason I went though was to see Nathan who was hanging out at the U1 Toy Arts booth. He brought some Boris t-shirts and the prototype for the new Boris bronze was on display.
I may have bought one or two things to add to my ever expanding shelf of toys...
Now all I really need is a Joe Ledbetter Unicornasaurus... and of course a LavaBear or two once he's released :)
Yokas!
One of the highlights of this year's DesignerCon was their custom Yoka show. A couple hundred artists from around the world put their own spin on the cute little panda bear. Here are some of them:

Bad Wolf
For those of you who wondered where the name of my photography company came from, it's a "Doctor Who" reference :)

"What in the name of Joss Whedon was that?"
Felicia Day's new video for NASA's Spitzer Space Center. Very Funny! (and educational too :)

"You've Got Red on You."
I promise this'll be the last Boris related post for awhile, but Nathan was doing his first official signing today so I ventured out to the San Gabriel Valley for the afternoon to say "hi." I also decided I should make a custom Boris for Nathan. (I was going to give him "Angel Boris" but he looked so good on my shelf next to "Demon Boris" that I hated to break up the set.) So, since Nathan's as big a Simon Pegg fan as I am, "Boris of the Dead" was born :)
Here's Nathan with his new Boris:

JACK CHOP
My friend Rileah Vanderbilt is engaged to filmmaker Adam Green (HATCHET, FROZEN). Here is his 11th annual Halloween short film! It is a spoof of TV's infamous "Slap Chop" infomercial. Behold the Jack-o'-lantern carnage and gore! It's prolly NSFW, but it is really fucking funny :)

Go Baby Go!
I've been back in LA for 4 1/2 years and had yet to make it to the racetrack so I decided today was the day. One of my all-time favorite horses was running in the Lady's Secret Stakes so I called that my excuse, packed up Boris, and headed to Santa Anita.
Boris' first trip to the track :)
The weather was perfect. Sunny, kinda breezy, and not too hot. I saw some amazing horses and some great races and just generally had a great time.
2009 Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird:
The main reason I went though was to see Zenyatta. This mare is amazing. She is proving to be one of the great race horses of all time. She's big. She's gorgeous. And damn but she can run.... She was 12-0 going into the Lady's Secret Stakes this afternoon and she did not disappoint.
So with her easy (yet still impressive) win today Zenyatta remains undefeated. Next up for her is the Breeder's Cup Ladies Classic on Nov. 6th. It's a $2 million race and it should be one for the record books. I can't wait!
